day after Thanksgiving

Well it is the day after Thanksgiving too much food. There is so much shopping and cooking involved but it was a good dinner and now I am free not to cook for several days.  My two older children are home and is fun having them around.Did not go too stores for black Friday but did do some damage on line.

Kids at Thanksgiving

My kitting has been taken over the past week or so with knitting small sweaters to use on packages and decorations.I am going to make a few more then stop.
Also made a lot of progress on the Abigail sweater in Tern yarn.  Yarn and pattern from Quince and Company.  I just have to pick up the band around the outside love this sweater and yarn.                                Been doing some reading.  Finished "children and fire" by Ursula Hegi. This author has written 3 other books with the same characters and town.  They take place in a German village before and during World War 11. This book was okay but not one of her best.  I started "Then Again" by Diane Keaton it is a kinda of memoir about her and her mother again so far not as good as I thought it would be.Any suggestions for a good read?Hope everyone had a great holiday.  Remember tomorrow is Support Small Business Saturday may need to shop for yarn and do my part!!

book and knitting update

First the book update.  I finished the Steve Jobs  biography by Walter Issacson.  It was interesting but all the technical parts I just skipped.  I also started "The Night Circus"by Erin Morgenstern. The librarian was just raving about this book. I also heard an interview with the author on NPR,I think on the Diane Rehm show.  I usually don't like science fiction type books and I don't like the circus. I still don't.  I read about 150 pages of this book and I just could not get into it.  I guess I will go to the "The Marriage Plot" by Jeffrey Eugenides. All these books are available on Amazon.com. On a side note -Annie Leibovitz was profiled as a Visionary"on the OWN network.  It was really interesting.  She has a book that came out today called "Pilgrim" talking about her photography.
Knitting.  First the good news.I washed and blocked "the featherweight cardigan". The designer is Hannah Fettig whose website is Knitbot.  I love this sweater.  It was knit  Malabrigo Lace yarn.It is nice and soft and perfect for this climate. The pattern was knit from the top down, well written and with no seaming right up my alley.I am goingg to start "trail jacket" another HannahFettig pattern in Osprey yarn by Quince & Co.. A Maine designer and Maine yarn. Love it  The bad news is I ripped out the September Circle Cowl that I talked about in another post.  I had finished it but I just didn't like it but I loved the yarn and it would
have gone to waste on that cowl.
Here is a picture of my dog and cat.  As many of you know the dog Molly is 18 years old blind ,deaf, and with a heart murmur. But she keeps going.  I have more knitting updates but will save for another time.

arizona knitting and life

I always talk about Maine and I feel my heart is there Arizona is pretty good too. First, the view from my backyard at sunrise.I go out for a walk very early.  In the spring and warmer months about 5a.m.  Right now it is around 6 and this is the beautiful view around me.
I have a great LYS here in Arizona Knit Happens on Indian School Road.  Two years ago I took a class there with 5-6 other women on a Tuesday morning.  We all hit it off and decided to keep coming and knitting on Tuesday 's.  Well that original group has grown to as many as 15 or 20 people coming on Tuesdays. We call ourselves The Tuesday Morning Knitters.  We help each other out with knitting, gossip, sometimes eat and have a good time.  We have become good friends and that is hard to do as you get older.  It has been great!!Here are some pictures I took last week.  As you can see the store is open and sunny.  It has a great selection of yarns.
I promised my husband I would talk about his omelets.  He has been making them for me for 27 years!Yikes!! They are really easy but delicious.  You just make a traditional omelet but for the filling you use leftover Chinese food, The spicier the better.  We also put in some cheese usually herb goat cheese or boursain type chees
Now to my knitting.I have been working on my Abigail Cardigan in Tern yarn by Quince and Co. my favorite yarn. This is a top down sweater and I am on the sleeves.  I continue with the Miley -T done in Seduce.  I am doing the bottom ribbing.  This is another top down sweater.  I continue with the September Circle Cowl Which I should finish in the next few days.  I spend a lot time thinking about my next project but I am trying to be good and finish these first.  The weather has changed in Arizona.  Last night the temperature fell into the 40's and tomorrow it is supposed to rain.Yeah!!!!That's it for now.
