so much yarn so little time

I am going to start this off with some of the books I read this month.

Lies You Wanted to Hear James Whitfield Thomas This book was recommended to me by my sister and it didn't disappoint. Set in Boston in the present it is about a husband and wife and the choices they make over many years and would you do it again.  Good read for plane or if you want to be engrossed in a book for a few days.  Easy Reading

Mercy Snow by Tiffinay Baker Set in New Hampshire and based on something that really happened,a school bus crashes on a icy road after a field trip and what happens to the town and the families after.  There is another book very similar to this one so once I got about 100 pages in I just stopped reading it.

White Nights Ann Cleeves This is a murder mystery set on the Shetland Islands.  Ireally liked this book.  I loved the location.  My ancestors are from Scotland and I have visited there a long time ago.  There are a lot of knitting trips to the Shetlands.  It is the birthplace of Fair Isle knitting and I would love to visit. I heard about this author and series of books  on one of my favorite podcasts "Ladies of the Knit". There are 3 other books in the series and a BBC mini series that was a big hit in England but has not made it over here yet.

Now Knitting
1.I finished the Swan Island Shawl knitted in there lace weight yarn on #6 needles for the stockinette part and #8 needles on the lacy part.  I really like how this turned out.  It is very lightweight and good for this climate but knitting with lace weight yarn is not my favorite past time. It is a easy knit and can definitely be a social knitting project.

2.Almost finished with the "Mia" cardigan by Carrie Bostick Hoge in Quince&Co. yarn in Chikadee-a DK weight yarn in the Sabine colorway.  This sweater is knitted from the bottom up.  I had never made a sweater this way and I really liked it.  The color is a very dark blue gray.  I am working on the band on the front of the sweater and then I will be done.

So I met my goal for this month -just barely to finish 2 projects.  YEAH!!!!
I have so much yarn and so many projects I want to do .I don't know if I am going to stick with wool or start some beautiful linen projects I have been looking at.
Till next time

Rug hooking finally completed

Spring

I finished the  cowl seen in the last post called "thirty-eight" because it has 38 rows .  It is made out of the first yarn sent by Clara Parkes of "The Great White Bale" that I have spoken of before.

Great White Bale Cowl

Working on the "Juliette Scarf" made out of Swans Island lace .It is easy but you know how slow(at Least for me)lace knitting is.  Doing this on #6 needles so it Will be airy and light weight

Started the Mia sweater designed by Carrie Bostick Hoge a Maine designer that I love.  This is using Quince&Co. yarn in Chickadee in the Sabine colorway on #5 needles.  It is a bottom up sweater.  I love knitting top down sweaters but sometimes I have a lot of fabric around the armholes and I wanted to see if bottom up works better. Finished up to the yoke and one arm hole.

Books
1.Burial Rites by Hannah Kent loved this book It takes place in Iceland in the 1840's.  It is based on a true story that the author heard when she was a exchange student there.  A woman is condemned to death for murder and slowly over the book you learn her story.
2.That Part Was True by Deborah McKinlay okay
3 The Scent of Pine by Lara Vapnyar reading this now. Like the setting of this- Boston and Maine but not sure about the story

Spring is here.  We had a very mild winter.
Peace
