Reading,some new knitting
It is hard to believe it is near the end of February and almost March. I have been doing some reading. The best thing I read recently is "The Round House"by Louise Erdrich. This book won the National Book Award. She is a Native American writer and some of her books I like others I don't. This book falls somewhere in the middle. It maybe more interesting to someone who lives in Arizona where there issues about tribal land and tribal laws something I knew nothing about coming from the east coast. One thing that this author does is use characters over again or someone who was a minor character in another gets a major role in another book. So this book makes me want to go back and read "The Sign of the Dove"( a book I couldn't get into before) because she uses some of the character in "The Round House". I also read "Prosperous Friends" by Christine Schutt-not impressed "White Heat"by M.J. McGrath a mystery recommended to me by the people at Maine Coast Books and usually I like their recommendations but not this time."Denting the Bosch by Teresa Linkabout 3 middle age couples who are friends. I kinda liked it but right now I cannot remember too much about it. I also read "The Burn Palace"by Stephen Dobyns. I don't know where I heard about it but I did take it out of the library. It is like a early Stephen King novel but not as good I say skip it.
I finished my "Color Affection Shaw" It turned out enormous mainly because I didn't want any leftover yarn. I enjoyed making it because it was so easybut not sure I liked the finished product. It is a great pattern for social knitting or when watching T.V.. I also started the Featherweight Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. It is in Quince and Company Tern. I have most of it finished except the sleeves. I will do pictures and links tomorrow since we are going out to dinner and my husband is rushing me and I wanted to get a post done. peace
