October already!!!
I can't believe it is October which is birthday month in our family. I have been back from Maine for a couple of weeks and feel bad I have not done a blog. I saw my sister in Maine and had a great day in kennebunkport. I went to the Common Ground Fair and my favorite yarn stores. Here is a picture of the yarn I sent back to Arizona. I can't wait to get started on some
projects.
Here is a picture in our back porch. I went to the beach one day. It was a beautiful day with only a few people on the beach and I found this really interesting piece of driftwood. It has a great unusual shape and looks cool on the back table. I also wanted to show you this great scene of getting on the ferry from Peaks Island which is an island not that far from Portland. A lot of people from who work in Portland live on Peaks Island and commute in. You can get to Peaks Island on Maine Island ferry Service. It is a great way to spend a day. We had lunch there with a great water view. My husband wanted to go there because there is Civil War museum on the island. I have read a few books. "March" by Geraldine Brooks. She won the Pulitzer Prize for this novel. I was not impressed. It tells the story of the March family(made famous by Louisa May Alcott in "Little Women) from the point of view of the father. If you want to read a good book by Geraldine Brooks I recommend "The Year Of Wonders". This is about the black plague in Europe in the fourteenth century and what a town did to save itself. I also read "The Orchardist" by Amanda Coplin. This books takes place in Washington State over a span of 50 years. It starts around 1920 . The main character is a man who lives a pretty solitary life taking care his orchard until 2 pregnant runaway sisters invade his life. The beginning was beautifully written and I had high hopes for the book but started to bog down at the end. It is a over400 page book. It is worth a read. "Heading Out to Wonderful" By Robert Goolrick is a strange book. I have read another book by this author that I really enjoyed but I can't remember the title. This book I found myself skimming and I couldn't wait for it to end. All books available at amazon.com I took pictures of my knitting projects but know I can't find them in my files. I will search and have a knitting post next time.
