spring has sprung
I think spring is finally here in the desert. A lot of our plants are blooming and it is getting light out earlier in the morning. I love to go out walking around 5:30 and watch the sun rise over the mountains.
I have so many knitting projects going on it is ridiculous. I finished the Rocky Coast Cardigan in Lark yarn from Quince and Company. It really come out nice but it is heavy . I will need to bring it to Maine. Iam working on the "Tea Leaf Cardigan" from Blue Sky using Spud and Chole Yarn. I love the yarn and pattern but at this point it has gotten really boring and I have to push myself to finish it. I only have one sleeve left and then putting the sweater together which I hate doing. The "rocky coast "was great because it was all one piece I am going to try to do most of my sweaters this way if possible. If you want to see the Tea Leaf cardigan visit my other postings. I will put in a picture when I finally finish. I am working on 3 different scarves/shawls at this point they do not look like much so I will put in pictures when I have more finished.I have been inspired to finish a sweater I started maybe 2 summers ago. It uses up yarn from your stash mixing colors and textures. The pattern comes from Elaine Eskeson in Damariscotta Maine. In my Tuesday knitting group we had been talking about what to do with stash and I thought of this sweater. It is knit from the bottom up and you randomly pick out yarn and knit a row or two with it . It makes a interesting sweater. You can get a copy of the sweater in Elaines book "Dying to Knit."

My reading continues. I started "Death Comes to Pemberley" written by the wonderful British mystery writer P.D. James. It is a take off using the characters from "Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I thought it would be stupid but she really gets Jane Austen's tone and at this point it seems like a fun read. I finished "Slow Love" by Dominique Browning which I liked. This was about a woman in her 50's who was editor of "House and Garden" Magazine and what she did with her life when this happened. I also finished "Made for you and Me" by Caitlin Shetterly. Maine Coast Books has been doing a book club this year featuring Maine women writers and this was one of their selections. It was okay. She seemed like a whiney kid and I wanted to scream at her "stop it and get on with it already". I am also reading "The Dirty Life" by Kristen Kimball. This is about a New York City reporter who goes to do a story about a organic farmer end up falling in love with him and gives up her city career for life on the farm. This is a true story. Is there a theme developing to what I am reading? Maybe (all books available at Amazon)
There is a show returning to AMC tonight for its second season "The Killing" The first season was very good and no it does not involve Vampires or zombies it is just a good mystery. It started out as a Danish tv show. The US version is set in Seattle and stars one of the actors from "Big Love".Good T.V. to knit by.Hope to include more knitting pictures next time.
