labor day weekend

This has been a pretty quiet weekend.  I saw the new Helen Mirren movie on Saturday called "The Debt".  It was pretty good.  My daughter came home Sunday.  We barbecued Burgers,shrimp,chicken,and corn.Also had a noodle salad and peach desert. My son is learning to drive.  My husband is doing the driving part and I went in the car with my son for the first timehe is doing a good job.  I worked with him for about 6 months to get his learners permit.  He has high functioning autism so we are really working on this and very proud of him.I finished the book "One Day' by David Nicholls.  It was sad and depressing.  It was made into a movie starring Anne Hathaway which I understand has been kind of a flop and i can see why.  I would not go to see it.I  am dying to start some new knitting.  I did some swatching of sparrow yarn from Quince and Company from Maine.  This yarn if fingering weight and 100% linen.  It is beautiful.  I even washed it to make sure I had the right gauge.  I also knit up a sample of tern yarn by Quince and Company.  This yarn is 80% wool and 20% silk again beautiful and soft with great stitch definition.  I am working on the Miley T in Berroco Seduce(see above).  This yarn does not look stripey on the hank but is working up this way.  At first I didn't like it but has grown on me.  I had almost finished this sweater then realized it was too small..I found out from my knitting group on Tuesday that the pattern runs this way so I had rip the whole thing out and start again.  Needless to say I can't wait to finish it but I have to work on some other things in the meantime.
