hit my goal for January

We are now in the middle of February and I made my goal for January.  I read 8 books and finished a sweater and fingerless gloves.
Some books I read in January:
Mother,Mother by Karen Zailckas  A very disturbing book.  It started out pretty good but got weirder and weirder.  I could not really recommend this book.

We Are Water  by  Wally Lamb I like his writing. I love the New England setting.  I love how long and satisfying his books are.
catcher in the Rye J.D. Salinger Saw a documentary about Salinger on Netflix and felt like rereading this book again.  Probably the 4th or 5th time I 've read this book.  Interesting but very different reading it now than when you are young.
Days in the History of Silence by Merrrrrethe Lindstrom Heard this author on Diane Rehm show.  Thought it would be a better book.  Translated from Norwegian

Devotion Dani Shapiro memoir a woman in her 40's brought up in a religious Jewish  who at this point in her life has no religion questions her beliefs and relation ship to her family .I thought it was a good read.
Knitting Yarns edited by Ann Hood This is a collection of short essays by writers who knit and what it means in their lives.  It is pretty goo. I will read one or two of them sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night and can' get back to sleep.   Ann Hood is a writer too.  If you haven't read any of her books you should.  She is a good writer who lives in Rhode Island

I've read a few other books none that satisfying so I won't go into them.. All book available on Amazon.

Knitting

I finished The Charlotte Cardigan in Swan Island Yarn worsted.  I love this yarn.  Even though it is 100%wool it is soft and beautiful.  Swans Island is dyed in Maine and pretty expensive  The pattern called for 6 skeins but I only used 4. I would make another of these in a different color.  If you haven't been to Swans Island  web site check it out here.wwwswansislanblankets.com

cowl from Not Plain Jane finished project Was "Thirty -Eight" by Jane Cochran .  This is a cowl using The Great Bale Yarn in the first dye lot. I wanted to knit something using this special yarn.  The yarn is beautiful but different.  It is soft but nubby kind of.  It was hard to think of something to knit with it.  This pattern was recommended..I am going to wash it in a day or two.  Washing is supposed to make make it even better.  I talked about The Great Bale" in the last post check it out if you don't know what I am talking about.  The weather this weekend is 80 about 15 degrees above normal and I am going to enjjjjjjjoy my long weekend.  Peace
