November Already

I can't believe it is November already.  I went to the grocery store this morning ,and when I saw some Thanksgiving stuff I needed I threw it in the cart.  True to my east coast roots I like to stay loyal to the area..  Some of the items sell out quick so I get them when I see them.  Believe it or not Pepperidge Farm stuffing is considered a specialty item.  Ocean Spray cranberries sell out so I already have a couple of bags of them in my freezer.  Long time getting to what I wanted to say- the grocery store here was already sold out of Bell Seasoning mix,in the yellow box with the turkey on it.  I was going to bring some back with me when I was in Maine in October but I thought I will still be able to but it in Arizona .  I am going to see if my kids can bring some with them when they  come.  Can't wait to have them home.
One of my local knitting stores closed recently.  It was kinda sudden and sad.  A group of us had been knitting there for at least 3 years on Tuesdays.  We now have been meeting at a new location which is great. If anyone else is interested I will let you know where and when.
Books I read "Tinderbox" by Lisa Gornick I really liked this book.  It takes place in New York City,a divorced therapist lets her grown son ,his wife -a doctor doing a fellowship in dermatology and their son move in with her for a year.  She hires a Peruvian woman -recommended by a friend to move in to help with child care, cleaning, ect .  Everyone has secrets so it is a mystery and family drama well done and not predictable.  Right now I am reading "  The Goldfinch" by Donna Tartt.  This is a 800 page book so it is a commitment.  I am about 600 pages in and it is just okay.  I really expected to be wowed.  I really don't like any of the characters. I heard today that Doris Lessing has died.  She is a British author that won the Nobel prize for Literature.  If you haven't read any of her books please do she is a great writer. Nora Ephron was a fan of hers
Finally knitting- I am knitting 2 scarves.  One is blue knit in Swans Island fingerling.  It is knitted in a blue grey color.  The yarn is beautiful and I am making up the pattern as I go along.  It is a gift.  The other scarf is knit in my favorite String Theory sock yarn that contains 10% cashmere and is so soft and beautiful.  I think the colors are Java and Jade.  String Theory is hand dyed by 2 former nurses in Blue Hill,Maine. I have been to their store several times and they are so nice.  They also go to the Fiber Frolic in June in Windser Maine.  The pattern I am using is Stripe Study by Veera Valimaki, all in garter stitch with short rows. The third thing on my needles is the Charlotte Cardigan knit in Swans Island worsted weight Sky Blue will talk more about this another time.  I have finished the Hannah Fettig Knitbot Point of view vest.  I just have to sew in the ends and wash it.  This was slow going because it was knit in Quince &Co Sparrow in Little Fern colorway using size 1 needles and did I say this yarn was linen? You can just imagine.

I can' believe I didn't take pictures of the scarves.  Will do it next time.  It is getting late and dark.Good knitting. Happy Thanksgiving if I don't write another blog before then. When I read through my blogs a week or two after I post them I see all these grammar and spelling errors that I don't notice the first time around.Sorry
Peace
